*voice turns deep* Okay, here is your host, kidZ Smith! (Lol, Smith is just so common which is why I used it XD) After we've gone through many many many touching revivals--well actually I'm just talking about one :P--we here at Extreme Makeover: Blog Edition realized that many of you folks would want to do this by yourselves.
Teh Basic Steps to a Blog Revival
Step 1: You have to visit your blog duh >.>
Step 2: Analyze anything and everything. Every post, every gadget, every font and color. If you wrote this a long long long time ago, get ready for some major cringing. >3<
Step 3: If most of it (by "most of it" I mean around 55% of the blog) is okay with you, all you have to do is tweak it a little bit, apologize to your possible readers, and start posting regularly again. If only some (or NONE D:) of the blog appeals to you, get ready for some hard work. .__.
Step 4: The easiest thing to fix is usually the color scheme and the background (if you have a background), so start with that first.
Step 5: Once you already feel the vibe of the blog and its newfangled look, try to find a suitable font for your header, description, post titles, and content text.
Step 6: Edit your posts and delete the ones that are either unfixable--which means the grammar and idea is so messed up, even YOU just say "lolwhut? o.o"--or EXTREMELY embarrassing.
Step 7: You're almost done! Time for some organizing and accessorizing. Organize your posts so that you and your readers can find them easily. Now just do some accessorizing: put in some GIFs, photos, or personalize the header.
Step 8: The longest, easiest step! All you have to do is add new posts (add in an apology if you have to) and maintain your blog. It has now been successfully revived.
Tips
- Avoid putting in too many colors and fonts. It might look like a ransom note, guys. >.>
- When choosing your color scheme, keep in mind that you only need three colors MAX. Look at Kid Fort, the basic colors are blue and lime green. However, if you're just basing the color scheme on ONE color (say, red), feel free to use different shades of that color.
- Same applies for fonts, three fonts MAX. I prefer to use the same font (or at least similar fonts) for the blog and post titles, because it sort of gives me this unified mood. :>
- Bright colors are excellent for random, quirky, and artsy blogs. Just think about it.
- Even if there's a background, you should probably keep the rest of the page a solid color. (White is always a classic.) It makes the content easier to read. o3o
- DON'T neglect your blog from now on. In fact, I like to think of reviving a blog like getting rid of acne. (LOL i couldn't think of any other examples) And then when your face is finally blemish-free, you start face-painting, cleaning dusty libraries, putting oil on your face for some reason ._. Would you really want to go back to fixing your blog AGAIN?!
Well, those are our suggestions. Thanks for reading in :)
