So, anyway, I just realized something: yesterday was our Grade 6 recollection and photo shoot. Which means one thing: I'm graduating. I'm going to high school. I'm no longer in elementary. D:
Makes me miss all those years I had in grade school. They were good times. Gooood times.
Okay, before I was homeschooled, I was enrolled in a regular ol' school for Kindergarten. (My mom told them I should just be put in Prep right away, but due to my age, I got dumped in kindergarten instead. Fun people.)
While I did like my friends and the fun times, I didn't have fun with the schoolwork itself. I mean, if you're a five-year-old who already knows how to read (and is pretty good at that) and you have to put up with classmates who can't even tell the difference between a d and a b, then you'll be bored too. Plus, my mom noticed that I'd rather hang out with older kids since they were more of my maturity level. (A mature five-year-old. I was a mature five-year-old. ._____.)
Eventually the school accelerated me to Prep, but I still didn't have fun. For one, everyone was scared of the teacher because she got angry easily. Plus, even though my grades were high enough for first honor, I wasn't rewarded at all. And even if I wasn't technically being bullied, there were a bunch of boys who made fun of me for having a crush on a kindergartener. (I have no idea why I had that crush. :I)
So my mom swooped to the rescue (gotta love how moms cut in to save the day :D) and decided to bring my brother and I to a better school. But, since she couldn't find the perfect school, she did some research online and happened to come upon homeschooling and many articles praising it.
But she didn't just want regular ol' homeschooling; she wanted Catholic homeschooling. So that's exactly what she typed in: "Catholic homeschooling". And the first thing she saw was a program called Catholic Filipino Academy.
It was started by a successful and famous preacher and businessman named Bo Sanchez (a guy whom I now call Tito Bo, just 'cause). She read his article on homeschooling, and then....BAM. My brother and I were homeschooled under Catholic Filipino Academy. Just like that.
(If you wanna check it out, click here! :D)
So I started my first year of homeschooling on first grade. Perfect.
I love homeschooling, okay? Nothing can change my mind about that. No matter how much criticism I draw from naysayers and well-meaning (but not so encouraging) friends and family, I will try to be homeschooled for as long as possible.
Why? Well, it's because being homeschooled taught me to go after my passion. And since we have no homework (correction, everything school-related becomes homework....actually. ._.) or assignments, we have all the time in the world to chase our dreams.
I love writing, singing, drawing, and fashion/beauty. So what do I do? I read. I write. I sing in the shower. I perform in small concerts. I draw on every surface I could draw on. I read fashion magazines and the beauty column of the newspaper.
Bet you can't do much of that when you go to regular school, huh?
And, since it's a Catholic homeschooling program, I've learned that everything I do should help others. :3 Plus, I also learned about Tito Bo and read some of his awesome books. (I'm a middle-schooler reading books meant for people ages twenty or older. Yeah.)
...
Yeah. That's it.
COOL STORY BRO.
(no "cool story bro" image for today. i iz scared of copyright violating, and i'm on our netbook so i can't draw anything. now you get a blog post without pictures. CRYYY.)
Peace out. :D
Hi! I'm Numpty from SW... I have my own blog, now (I'mnotadvertisingI'mnotadvertisingbuthere'sthelinkanyway). Homeschooling seems pretty cool, the way you put it, but I always thought it'd be a little boring not to have any friends with me, because friends are the only thing I enjoy about school. Still, you made it sound pretty awesome.

XD (loldon'tworryistalkedyourblogevenbeforeyoucheckedmineouttruestoryo-o) Thanks. I do sort of wonder how it would be like to hang out with friends every day instead of every week, but that's why my brothers are around. To annoy the daylights out of me. (And that's exactly what my friends do tooooo!)
